⌦ Design and Features

The Randride YG90 has a distinctly sporty design, ideal for mountain climbing or traversing rugged paths.

From the wheels to the frame, everything in this e-bike is designed to absorb the terrain’s irregularities. We will now analyze each part separately.

Randride YG90

⧪ Frame / Suspension

Made of aluminum alloy, the YG90’s frame is lightweight and sturdy, with enough space to integrate a high-capacity battery.

It also incorporates central suspension, significantly increasing comfort by absorbing vibrations that affect the rear wheel.

The fork is also made of aluminum and includes another suspension with a lockout feature, allowing you to adapt it to any need or situation.

Having good suspension on an e-bike is crucial, as these bikes tend to weigh more and hit harder on every bump.

This is especially important for mountain bikes, and as you can see, the Randride YG90 is well-equipped with suspensions.

⧪ Brakes / Transmission

Safety is a priority on any bike, especially on an electric bike that can reach significant speeds.
Therefore, the YG90 features Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes, providing superior braking performance.

Compared to mechanical disc brakes, hydraulic brakes require less pressure to achieve greater braking capacity, making steep descents more comfortable.

Transmission is also a crucial aspect of any bike, and this e-bike has a 21-speed Shimano gearbox.

Thanks to this, the Randride YG90 offers a wide range of options to adapt to any type of terrain and effort level, optimizing the use of the electric motor to maintain a consistent pace on your rides.

⧪ Wheels

In MTB terrain, the 27.5-inch wheels on this e-bike can be considered medium-sized and suitable for most riders.

The larger wheels on adult bikes are 29″, and the smaller ones are 26″, so 27.5″ is a comfortable size for rough terrain without excessively increasing the bike’s dimensions.

The provided tire width is 2.4″, which is quite wide, almost like a fat bike tire.

⧪ Comfort and Accessories

The full suspension, combined with large and wide wheels, makes the Randride YG90 a very comfortable bike on all types of surfaces.

Whether you’re descending a mountain or taking a leisurely ride in the park, the YG90 is ready to absorb all impacts, providing you with a smooth ride.

It also features a large color display for adjusting various electric system settings, such as assistance levels or maximum speed.

This display also shows various ride statistics, including distance traveled, battery charge level, and current speed.

On the handlebars, you’ll also find a right-hand twist throttle, an electric horn, and various controls to operate the display on the left.

Other interesting accessories on this e-bike include the powerful 48V front headlight and the solar-powered rear light, although it would have been better if the rear light was also connected to the battery.

⌦ Performance: Engine and Battery

The Randride YG90 offers various battery and motor configurations to cater to all needs and regulations.

Below are both the available models and the aspects you should consider when choosing one.

⧪ Power / Speed

Like many other budget e-bikes, the YG90 features a rear-wheel hub motor activated by a pedal sensor.

The power of this motor depends on the model, with versions of 250W, 500W, and 1000W, all at 48V, which is important in terms of performance.

A motor powered by 48V performs better than a 36V one, regardless of its power.

However, you should keep in mind that higher-wattage motors are heavier and will weigh down the bike more on steep inclines.

For road riding, a 1000W motor is excellent, but not so much if you want to exercise and only have assistance in challenging moments.

Also, note that the legal limit for electric bikes in most of Europe is 250W, with a maximum speed of 15,5 mph (25 km/h).

The 500W motor can pass as a 250W one because they have similar dimensions, and the maximum speed can be limited from the display, but a 1000W hub is hard to conceal.

Another point to consider if you want to keep this e-bike legal is that you’ll have to disconnect the throttle, either via software or by physically disconnecting the cable.

Regarding speed, all versions easily surpass the mentioned 15,5 mph limit: the 250W motor can reach approximately 21.75 mph, the 500W one about 27.96 mph, and the 1000W motor is around 34.17 mph.

⧪ Battery and Range

The options in this case are also varied, with versions of 10Ah, 12Ah, 13Ah, and even 17 Ah, all at 48V.

Higher capacity means more size, more weight, and higher cost, so it’s advisable to choose a battery that suits your needs.

An appropriate combination to balance weight and range could be a 13Ah battery with a 250W motor.

Less weight and lower power result in lower energy consumption. It’s not just about capacity; efficiency should also be considered. Plus, it will be a more economical bicycle.

Obviously, if you don’t want to pedal and are looking for a motorcycle-like experience, you’ll have to go for a 1000W model with 17Ah.

The range, therefore, depends on many factors, both of the bicycle itself and the cyclist with their weight and the terrain’s characteristics.

In any case, the manufacturer sets ranges ranging from 18.6 – 31.1 miles in electric mode to 37.3 – 74.6 miles in assisted mode.

Finally, another interesting detail about the YG90 is that the battery is integrated into the frame and can be removed from the bottom. Hence the unusual flat shape it takes under the bottom bracket.

⧪ Assist Modes

The YG90 is equipped with an intelligent pedal assist system that offers 5 levels of assistance.

This means you can adjust the amount of assistance you want to receive while pedaling, allowing you to customize your cycling experience.

You can opt for minimal effort on flat terrain or increase assistance on steep climbs, making this bicycle versatile and suitable for cyclists of different fitness levels.

The level of support in each mode will depend on the motor power, but with 250W and unrestricted speed, it should be something like this:

  • Mode 1: Gentle Assistance. Provides support up to 10 mph.
  • Mode 2: Moderate Assistance. Takes you to speeds of up to 12 mph, reducing fatigue.
  • Mode 3: Medium Assistance. Allows you to easily reach 14 mph.
  • Mode 4: High Assistance. Helps maintain a pace of up to 16 mph.
  • Mode 5: Full Assistance. You can reach up to 20 mph without pedaling.

The speed can also be adjusted from the LCD screen to set fixed or cruise speeds, allowing for more precise adaptation.

⌦ Advantages and Disadvantages

This e-bike is one of the best mountain bikes we’ve reviewed at Top E-biker, but it still has some room for improvement. Here are its advantages and disadvantages:

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
48V Motor and Battery Rear light not connected to the battery
Full Suspension Higher price in more powerful configurations
27.5 x 2.4″ Wheels
Hydraulic Disc Brakes
Integrated Removable Battery in the Frame

The Randride YG90 is presented as an e-bike with a powerful technical arsenal, combining versatility with performance, especially on mountainous terrain.

Its 48V motor and battery, full suspension, and 27.5 x 2.4″ wheels position it as one of the top contenders in the market.

However, details like the rear light not being connected to the battery and the high price in its more powerful configurations are areas for improvement.

Although it has some areas of opportunity, the YG90 is undoubtedly a solid choice for those seeking a superior electric cycling experience, combining comfort and power.

It’s clear that Randride has put a lot of effort into this model, and overall, the result is impressive.
